"Where there is no wine, there is no love" (Euripides)The Saint Lucia Vinery was founded in the early 1960s when my father’s property was joined with that of my maternal grandfather, creating a holding covering 100 hectares of which 12 were vineyards. Located in the heart of Romagna, at an altitude of 250 m in Mercato Saraceno, Val di Savio, the farm produced a whole range of products, from grain to meat, from cheese to fruit and wine too. The aim was to be completely independent. The change came at the end of the '90s when we decided to specialize in wines. The revolution began in the vineyard and continued in the wine cellar. Through collaboration with leading Italian wine producers, we completed a project that has taken our production to the highest levels while enhancing the culture, history and traditions of our territory. Taking centre stage are the Sangiovese, Albana, Famoso and Centesimino vines, the princes of our region’s viticulture, which express varietal features to the full in this area thanks to the characteristics of the soil and climate. All the vineyards are cultivated with organic farming methods, with plants grown in espalier vineyards and with Guyot pruning. We have achieved impressive results in recent years by taking into account the influence of lunar phases (both on the growth of the vine and in the cellar) and by practicing biodynamics. Thanks to this new approach, the area regains its true identity and we consider this to be the basis for the growth and enhancement of all the wines produced.
